in vollendeter Wiedergabe..." |

Dear Esteemed Audience,
At the beginning of a new season fort the Cairo Symphony Orchestra
the Cairo Opera House again confirms ist cultural and creative
message of spreading the fine arts and achieving the appreciation
of our audience. This year, promoting the communication between
Egyptian and foreign artists is at the centre of our attention.
Their cooperation will contribute to a unique experience of
artistic creativity.
We hope that this season will fulfill its expected targets in
developing the fine arts.

| I look forward to cooperate
with Cairo Symphony Orchestra as Chief Conductor beginning with
this season. I already had the great pleasure to make the acquaintance
of this fine orchestra during a concert in December 2006. It
was a deep experience indeed that was marked by mutual respect
and linked with musical highlights. The professionalism, but
also the devotion of the orchestra to music were the major reasons
to positively answer the request for an engagement as Chief
Conductor.
The many-sidedness of the musical selections for the 49th
seasons reveals the great flexibility of the Cairo Symphony
Orchestra.
Not only the many soloists of the orchestra, but also national
and international soloist will complement the symphonic program.
I am especially happy to work together with the A Capella
Choir. Together we shall perform Carmina Burana as the opening
work of the season.
Dear music lovers of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. I hope
that we have attracted your curiousity by now, and I look
forward to meet you in the forthcoming concerts.
Andreas Spörri
Chief Conductor

Our dear Audience,
it is a great honour and privilege to welcome you all to the
49th season at the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. After the great
success of his last season’s concert with the Orchestra,
it is my pleasure to welcome the Swiss conductor Andreas Spörri
as the Cairo Symphony Orchestra Chief Conductor for the season.
In programming our season, our goal, as always, is to present
a rich and varied series of concerts. This season is marked
by many symphonic, choral and vocal works, among which we
will perform Stravinsky’s Opera-Oratorio Oedipus Rex.
The A Cappella Choir will feature with the orchestra prominently
throughout the season, performing great symphonic choral works
including Dvorak Stabat Mater, the Requiem of Gabriel Faure
and Hydens’s Oratorio “The Creation”. Forthcoming
highlights include performances to commemorate the 150th anniversary
of G. Puccinis’s birth.
As in previous seasons, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra supports
and encourages many of Egypt’s rising stars, the talented
soloists, composers and conductors who will shine during our
season, gain confidence, experience and maturity their work
with the orchestra.
We welcome you to join us and enjoy our 49th season.

Chief Conductor of
the Cairo Symphony Orchestra "...On Saturday
9 December 2006 Andreas Spörri was guest conductor of Cairo
Symphony Orchestra for the very first time. This concert was
a smashing succes. That night, the audience discovered the phenomenal
musicianship of the Swiss maestro, so much so, that he was asked
to accept the position of Chief Conductor of the Cairo Symphony
Orchestra."
Al-Ahram Weekly 27.09 - 03.10.2007 "...Andreas
Spörri's first concert as Cairo Symphony's Chief Conductor
was, neverless, an excellent introduction to the orchestra's
new season. The Maestro gave us a superb demonstration of virtuosity
and of deep musical feeling, leading the masterpiece to an exciting
end, while the crowed brought the house down."
